About PlateMates

PlateMates is building a neighbor-to-neighbor exchange for home-cooked food. Cook one extra portion, match with someone nearby doing the same, and trade dinners instead of ordering another meal.

Our mission is to make everyday dinner more varied and affordable while giving neighbors a natural reason to meet. We are beginning in apartment buildings, dorms, campuses, and close-knit communities where local trust can grow plate by plate.

Food safety and transparency are foundational. PlateMates is being designed around allergen tags, cook ratings, food-handling guidance, and clear expectations for every exchange. Local food-sharing rules vary, and each launch will account for its community's requirements.
